Pauline’s a Champion – Are you?
Congratulations to Pauline who was the first person to sign up to be a Neighbourhood Champion for Windmill Hill. She is seen here in the centre of the photo, encouraged by Clare Dinsdale (Community Development Officer for HBC) on the left and Martin Cooil (Neighbourhood Management Team) on the right.

If you answer yes to any of the following questions then you are just what we’re looking for and could join up to be a Neighbourhood Champion too!
- Do you enjoy getting out and about in your neighbourhood and chatting to neighbours and friends?
- Are you interested in what is going on in your area?
- Do you like to have your say in how things in your area should be organised?
The Castlefields and Windmill Hill Neighbourhood Partnership are looking for Neighbourhood Champions to act a point of contact for their area – it could be the block of flats that you live in or a few neighbours in the street that you live in.
Why have Neighbourhood Champions?
Whilst there are already a number of way to get information out to people including newsletters, leaflets, meetings, etc. we want to make our communication really interactive. We want people to talk to us, but more importantly we want people in the neighbourhood to talk to each other. We would like to utilise and build on the existing sense of community spirit that is so strong in Castlefields and Windmill Hill.
What does it involve?
All we need is for you to be happy to pass information on to your neighbours on a very informal basis. Don’t worry - there won’t be lots of paperwork! You’ll also have the chance to feedback to the partnership about issues in your area that concern you or your neighbours and you’ll be offered the opportunity to get involved in improving your neighbourhood. You can get involved as much or as little as you like.
In return for helping us out we will keep you updated about what is going on, ask for your opinion on ideas and activities and offer you any support and training to help you to carry out the role. We’ll also make sure you get plenty of chance to talk to other neighbourhood champions at social events throughout the year.
We’d love you to get involved so if you would like to have a chat to find out more just give Clare a call on 01928 567531 or email her on:
Neighbourhood Management is designed to make local services, such as the Council, Police and Social Landlords more responsive to the needs of people living in the area. There’s no large amounts of new funding that comes with this – it’s about making existing budgets better and making money go further. That’s why we need your help so we know how we should work and spend the money in your area.
