Students on the "Getting Started on the Computer" course were presented with their Certificates of Achievement today, Friday 11 April 2008, by Joe Ainsworth from Rocksavage Power Company.

Here are (from left to right) students Jackie Ditchfield, Gordon Rimmer, Ernie Bagley, Yvonne Watson, Margaret Mainwaring, Joe Ainsworth from Rocksavage Power Company, Russ Morrison, Jacky Ryan, and Neil Bradley.  Hiding at the back on the right is Mike Burrows, Chairman of Windmill Hill Community Forum.  Mike commented "As Nick has already said, the hardest part of the course was actually to have the confidence to walk through the door, and it was nice to see the confidence grow as the mysteries of the computer were gradually exposed and mastered."

"It was a pleasure to attend your presentation today," said Joe Ainsworth.  "It was very rewarding to see people reaping the rewards of all their hard work."

To add to all the fun of the final class, three of the students had to leave class early.  "I changed around the lesson to make this possible," said Nick Walton, class tutor.  "It was hard work but all the students managed to complete the main exercise of the day and even another exercise too before people had to go.  We didn't want them to miss out so we took their photos so they could show off their certificates of achievement."

"Many of the students are going straight onto the "Email & the Internet" course which starts next week," said Mike Burrows.  "Now they have Got Started on the Computer, only they know where they will finish!"

Joe Ainsworth from Rocksavage Power Company added: "It is obvious that the training environment that the Telematics Centre provides is a much needed service for those in the community who want to improve their IT skills."
