Community Garden Party
A small but enthusiastic crowd gathered in the Community Garden on Saturday 14 June 2008 to officially re-open the community garden. The weather was kind and the cutting of the tape by the WH Residents Association Chair Clare Nelson and her children was roundly cheered.

The PlayCentre was used to serve everyone with high tea consisting of scones thick with cream and jam, superb home made cakes, and lashings of tea or soft drinks to wash it all down. Now we know why Martin Cooil volunteered to serve in the kitchen and why only a few people got to taste the banana chip cake.
Budding artists could smock up and try their hand at plant pot painting and many fine pots were produced by children and adults alike.
Advertising a range of computer courses available in the Telematics Centre, a PowerPoint presentation showed students receiving certificates and generally posing for the camera.
A map of the estate was used to try to pinpoint locations for the proposed new Health Centre and Mike Burrows encouraged people to fill out the PCT forms to express their health priorities.
Our new Councillor Mike Sheperd attended and spent the afternoon putting himself about and answering questions and generally making himself known to the residents.
Everyone attending was entered into a draw held by Kathryn Muscroft of LHT and the winners walked away with some great prizes.
At the end of the afternoon everyone was encouraged to take home the uneaten cakes and scones and no prizes for guessing who was first in the queue.
Now let's hope people will get in the habit of using and enjoying the garden.
