Getting Started Students Presented with Certificates
Friday 21st October 2011 was a big day for the students who completed the latest "Getting Started on the Computer" course. They were presented with certificates of achievement by Joe Ainsworth and Sophia Manners-Price from Rocksavage Power Company.
Ten students took the course which started in September 2011. They all learnt a bit about a whole range of subjects ranging from using the mouse and keyboard to word processing, working with spreadsheets, finding information on the Internet, inserting pictures into a folder cover, using the Windows filing system, and lots more besides.
Before the presentation of certificates, Nick Walton, Telematics Project Manager and tutor on the course said, "This is always the toughest course that people will do here at the Telematics Centre because it is their first. It takes real guts to come to the first lesson and to walk through that door. That's why we always present a Certificate of Achievement to every student who completes the course."
After the presentation of certificates, Nick went on to say: "In our third lesson on this course we learn all about juggling different computer programs to get a job done. I recall that Sophia is rather good at juggling. Perhaps she can show us her skills..." So here are the proud students with their certificates and Sophia showing us how to do real juggling.

Lots of the students have decided they want to learn more and will be starting the course "Email & the Internet" after half term in November 2011. They all seem to have the "learning bug" now they have Got Started!
Rocksavage Power Company have supported the course "Getting Started on the Computer" for many years. Everyone at the Telematics Centre is very grateful for that support. Thank you.
